Business users and security administrators rarely use the same vocabulary when communicating access control problems. The technicalities behind permissions and groups are often lost on end-users. Security administrators have difficulty when faced with angry users who are confused as to why they cannot perform various business functions.

Typically the only way to resolve this breakdown is to identify a third person who has the required access. End users can identify someone who has the access they require and the administrator can then review and compare this third person's account.

Identifying discrepancies is a manual task with the Security Administrator often taking hand written notes. They must then manually amend these entries, potentially introducing unintended access.
